I started Clyde’s Mini sluices in 2008, I bought a sluice box made from an old piece of gutter, I thought it looked pretty cool but it needed something, it just wasn’t up to my standards so I took it to my workshop and made some changes. After I made some changes I started to run material through it and I couldn’t keep the sluice box propped up and level so I came up with a stand that’s totally adjustable and now it won’t tip over. I changed the way the water flowed and made it adjustable too and now it’s perfect. I also came up with a final cleanup table which separates the black sand from your gold. I made it small enough that it fits right on top of the mini sluice so it stays compact enough to fit in a small mixing tub.
In 2008 I went to my first gold show as a vendor, I just wanted to see what the public wanted and to see if my sluices were marketable, boy was I surprised, I only made 10 and traveled in a Subaru, I sold every one I made and could have sold 30 more. now I make 100 each winter and I do three shows, (maybe I’ll do more in the future) and travel with a large cargo trailer and I usually sell out of everything… Thank you everyone for the great feedback and all the positive things you say about my products. You keep liking them, Ill keep making them…
